How My Life Story Shapes My Approach as a Life Coach: Insights for Expats

Updated: Mar 31

A job is something we do, but life is something we live.

I have taken a deep dive into my own life experiences to identify the strengths and resources that will allow me to support my clients effectively—especially those navigating changes as expats in Switzerland and beyond.

Having worked as a life coach, I have developed a keen sense of intuition and deep empathy. Many times, clients come to me with one issue, only to realize that the true challenge lies beneath the surface. Through my coaching, I help them uncover the root cause and take steps toward meaningful transformation.

My Experience as an Expat: From East to West

As a young adult, I moved abroad to study and live independently. My journey took me from my home country Poland to Spain, Italy, and ultimately to Switzerland, where I have lived for the past 15 years.

These experiences have given me profound insight into the challenges that expats, asylum seekers, and refugees face when adapting to a new country:

  • Language barriers that make integration and job searching difficult

  • Cultural differences and unwritten rules in the workplace

  • Emotional struggles such as loneliness, uncertainty, and the pressure to start over

For many expats, career changes or requalifications become necessary to remain competitive in the job market. The reality is, moving to a new country often means reinventing yourself professionally. I personally understand what it means to let go of a past career dream due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or lifestyle incompatibility.

My Unique Approach: Blending Coaching with Real-Life Experience

Life Coach in Switzerland

Drawing from my background as a singer and performer, I offer a distinctive approach to job coaching that focuses on self-confidence, personal branding, and professional presence. Here’s how I help clients prepare for job interviews and career transitions:

  • Body Language & Presence: Mastering non-verbal communication for confidence

  • Overcoming Stage Fright: Using mindset shifts and self-talk strategies

  • Voice & Speech Training: Improving tone, clarity, and authority

  • Breathwork Techniques: Reducing anxiety and boosting vocal control

  • Professional Appearance: Enhancing personal style for workplace success

Additionally, my experience as a mother has taught me valuable lessons in multitasking, boundary-setting, and stress management—all essential skills for career coaching. I guide my clients in:

  • Time & Energy Management: Prioritizing tasks efficiently

  • Building Resilience: Learning to navigate setbacks

  • Creating Structure: Establishing healthy routines for success

Bridging Life Coaching and Job Coaching: A Holistic Perspective

While life coaching and job coaching have distinct focuses, the core of my work remains the same:

Helping individuals navigate change and transformation.

Expats, career changers, and professionals facing unexpected transitions need more than just a new CV or interview training. They need a trusted partner who understands the emotional, psychological, and practical challenges that come with career shifts.

By fostering a space of trust and encouragement, I empower my clients to move from fear and uncertainty to confidence and clarity. Through targeted coaching, I help them shift their perspective from dwelling on the past to focusing on solutions and actionable steps toward a fulfilling career.

Supporting Families & Loved Ones Through Career Transitions

Career struggles don’t happen in isolation—they affect families and relationships too. Having witnessed the emotional toll that job loss, workplace bullying, and career-related stress can have on individuals and their loved ones, I take a holistic approach by considering the broader impact of career transitions.

In my work, I:

  • Provide guidance to family members on how to support their loved ones through job changes

  • Address stress and emotional challenges that arise within households

  • Help clients rebuild self-confidence and develop a positive mindset

Looking Ahead: My Vision as a Job Coach

One of my key interests is career prevention coaching, where the focus is on maintaining employment stability rather than only supporting job seekers after job loss.

Having worked extensively with women in challenging situations, I am passionate about helping women achieve financial independence, self-worth, and professional fulfillment through meaningful employment.

My Core Coaching Values

  • Trust & Empathy: Establishing a strong, supportive relationship with my clients

  • Holistic Growth: Addressing both career and personal well-being

  • Accountability & Responsibility: Empowering clients to take ownership of their future

A fulfilling career isn’t just about finding the next job—it’s about finding the right path that aligns with one’s values, strengths, and aspirations. Through job coaching with a life coaching foundation, I aim to guide expats and professionals toward a future where they feel empowered, confident, and in control of their careers.
